Now, Instagram is the new shoppers' destinations which are turning into a more robust commerce platform.
Previously, Instagram only allowed the brands to make shoppable posts and to tag products in their posts to influence the user across the world. Now, Instagram is turning the envelope yet again where the users will finally able to buy everything from their favorite creators and influencer recommend directly to their feed.
Starting from next week, the influencers and creators can tag specific products in their photos or posts which allow the user to see exactly what's new and what's for sale and purchase the product effortlessly without leaving the app.
Instagram will let the creators tag products in their posts from businesses that are part of Instagram Checkout. By tapping on the product tags given, it will take the user to an in-app shopping page.
The "Checkout on Instagram" feature is not accessible and is currently being tested in a closed beta with 20 fashion and beauty brands.
The full list of partner brands includes Adidas, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Balmain, Burberry, ColourPop, Dior, Huda Beauty, H&M, KKW Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, NARS, Nike, NYX Cosmetics, Oscar de la Renta, Outdoor Voices, Ouai Hair, Prada, Revolve, Uniqlo, Warby Parker and Zara. This tool will enable users to purchase fashion and beauty products which are only available in the US and on mobile devices for now.
Instagram says, "the payment information of the user will be saved automatically for future shopping once an order is complete. "Before proceeding to payment, the users will able to configure various options such as size and color by tapping the button.
The company states in its F8 announcement:
"This is yet another important step in our shopping journey and we'll continue to listen to feedback from our community on how we can make the experience even better...For brands, this means a new way to reach an engaged audience who are actively looking to their favorite creators for inspiration, and make it easier to shop a brand's products."
Instagram further says "public figures, creators, athletes, publishers, and artists" will gain access to the feature, which will let them tag articles of clothing and let followers buy those items immediately within the app.
Instagram added "it's not taking a cut of revenue, but it does require creators to use Instagram's Checkout beta, which involves a selling fee the company is testing."
For now, Instagram says it will start testing the shopping tags "with a small group of creators" next week. It's not clear right now how one will gain access to the feature in the future or if it will involve Instagram's approval.
For brands, influencers and creators, it is a great way to reach an engaged audience across the globe which ultimately could boon to sales for businesses that sell instagrammable products. Before that, it is eligible for businesses to have their products tagged by using Instagram's checkout beta.
This new feature will give Instagram a wider mission to turn the platform into an e-commerce powerhouse. Over the years, the company has generated a massive revenue as many advertisers have quit Facebook. Instagram is trending where people go for lifestyle inspiration, fashion, tips, home decor idea and much more. It is now becoming a safer place where you can spend massive amounts of money by purchasing a product.
However, in order to attain popularity one should cover every type of content by creating a strong foundation of image, videos, and stories in your posts. Most importantly, using # Hashtags which is used in social networks has immense power and play a major role in both Human Search and Social Media Optimization (SMO) . So, use hashtags to draw the attention of the people which will allow them to search effortlessly for your products and services.
